BIDS.Testing

Test helpers for a BIDS application on .NET Framework 4.8. The test code lives in Saturn.Server.Testing.

Requirements

  • .NET Framework 4.8
  • BIDS.API at the same version as this package
  • NUnit 4.4.0
  • MSTest 4.2.2
  • Selenium WebDriver 4.43.0 and Selenium WebDriver Extensions 4.1.0
  • System.Data.SQLite 2.0.3

NuGet restores those packages with BIDS.Testing.

Installation

build\BIDS.Testing.targets runs after Build and copies tools\Download-ChromeDriver.ps1 to the test output directory. Run it with PowerShell 7 and -DriversDirectory set to that output directory. It downloads the Chrome WebDriver that matches the installed Google Chrome.

What the library provides

Saturn.Server.Testing is in lib.

  • ServerTestBase is an MSTest base class. It deploys the server and studio installers, SaturnBuild.exe, and chromedriver.exe, and it installs and recycles a test environment.
  • TestEnvironment is the installed server environment used by a test. It is IAsyncDisposable.
  • WebPlatform drives the application in Chrome through Selenium.
  • MSTestContext and NUnitTestContext adapt the host test context.

Browser tests need the Chrome driver next to the test assembly. Server tests need the BIDS Server and BIDS Studio installers available to ServerTestBase as deployed test items.
