DevExpress WPF Spell Checker

The DevExpress.Wpf.SpellChecker package includes the SpellChecker component that adds Microsoft Office-inspired spell checking to your WPF application. Attach it as a behavior to the RichEditControl, TextEdit, MemoEdit, or standard TextBox/RichTextBox controls, or use it as a standalone component to check spelling in code.

Key Features

  • Check-As-You-Type: Misspelled words are underlined with a wavy red line as users type. Spell checking runs on a separate thread and does not affect UI responsiveness.
  • Spelling Dialogs: Built-in Spelling and Spelling Options dialogs let users correct, skip, or ignore misspelled words, and configure spell-checking behavior.
  • Spell-Check Context Menu: Suggested corrections and dictionary actions are available directly from a right-click context menu.
  • Multiple Dictionary Formats: Use Simple, ISpell, OpenOffice, or Hunspell dictionaries, or create custom dictionaries in plain text.
  • Shared Dictionaries: Reuse a single custom dictionary across multiple Spell Checker instances to avoid loading the same dictionary multiple times.
  • Multi-Language Support: Switch the checked language at runtime and automatically detect a document's culture.
  • MVVM Support: Configure and bind the Spell Checker declaratively as a behavior in XAML.
